Frigberg's 4 TDs lift East Kentwood to 2014 OK Red title

Kyle Friberg was 9/16 for 218 yards and threw 3 touchdowns to lead East Kentwood (8-1, 4-1 in OK Red) to a 56-17 win over Grand Haven (3-6, 0-5 in OK Red) and a share of the 2014 OK Red Championship.

The Falcons used a 21-point 2nd quarter to build a 35-14 lead at the half before cruising to the 56-17 win. East Kentwood last won an OK Red Championship back in 2003 when the team finished 10-2 overall, and 5-1 in the OK Red Metro. Their 8 wins on the season are the most since 2003.

Friberg tossed touchdowns to Adam Racette, Kevin Smith, and Tristan Waters on the night. Racette only had one catch on the night, but it was a big one as it covered 67 yards for a touchdown.

Friberg added a rushing TD to go along with his season high 3 touchdown passes. Kevin Smith was Friberg's top target catching 4 passes for 116 yards and a TD. Michael Ivy had 183 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground. Michael Catching added a 13-yard TD run for the Falcons.

East Kentwood scored on 7 of its 10 possessions and outscored the Buccaneers 28-0 over the course of the 2nd and 3rd quarter to build a 42-14 lead heading into the 4th.

Notes:

Jordan O Cobbs and Georval Scott each had 10 tackles on defense, while Adam Racette added 9.

Cobbs, Marcus Garth, and Chase Snyder each had a sack, while Stephen Keeler had an interception.

Synder and Darron Ewing each recovered a fumble. Ewing returned his 15 yards for a touchdown.
