East
Kentwood (7-1, 3-1 in OK Red) used a heavy dose of Mike Ivy on Friday
night to put themselves into a position to finish the season with a
share of the OK Red championship. The Falcons beat Rockford (6-2, 3-1
in OK Red) 36-3, which sets up the chance for at least a share of the
OK Red Conference title with a win next week vs Grand Haven.
After
taking a 3-0 lead into the 2nd quarter East Kentwood used two long
drives to build a 16-0 lead. The first was a 5-play, 78-yard drive that
carried over from the 1st quarter and it was capped by a 21-yard TD
pass from QB Kyle Friberg to Quantayvious Totten. Then the Falcons put
together a 6-play, 83-yard drive and ended it with a 1-yard TD from
Kyle Friberg.
The 2nd
half was dominated by RB Michael Ivy who had a 27-yard, 35-yard, and
2-yard TD run to help the Falcons cruise past the Rams.
Ivy
finished the game with 27 carries for 248 yards and 3 touchdowns, while
QB Kyle Friberg had 2 total touchdowns (1 rush, 1 pass). Friberg was
6/9 for 115 yards with a TD and added 37 rushing yards with a TD on the
ground. Quantayvious Totten caught a 21-yard TD from Friberg, while
Kevin Smith had 3 receptions for 68 yards.
Michael
Catching led the defense with 11 tackles, Jordan Cobbs added 7, and
Georval Scott added 6 in the win. Cobbs added 2 sacks to go along with
his 7 tackles.

Kentwood ran for 329 yards, Rockford ran for 131 yards.
Rockford
QB Landen Haney was 10/14 for 65 yards.
East
Kentwood last beat Rockford back in 2003 by a score of 20-14.
This
was Rockford's first conference loss since 2010.
