Grandville's (4-4, 2-2 in OK Red) rushing attack racked up big yardage for the second straight week and this time it was against Grand Haven (3-5, 0-4 in OK Red).

On their first drive, the Bulldogs used an 8-yard run by Nolan Meekhof on 4th and short to extend the drive. Grandville then used runs from Cappiello and Meekhof into Grand Haven territory. Grandville capped the drive with a 14-yard TD run for Nolan Meekhof with 4:41 left in the 1st. Two point conversion gave Grandville an 8-0 lead.

Grand Haven responded by converting a 4th down of their own near midfield and eventually finished the drive with an 8-yard TD run by Schaefer Thelen. The two point conversion failed and Grandville led 8-6 with 11:14 left in the 2nd.

The Bulldogs responded quickly a few plays later with a 40-yard TD run by Brian Cappiello, this came a few plays after a horse collar penalty put Grandville near midfield. The two point conversion failed and Grandville lead 14-6 with 9:28 left in the quarter.

QB Levi Overway completed a 24-yard pass over the middle and then ripped off a 46-yard touchdown to cut the lead to 14-12, after the failed two point conversion, with 7:01 left in the half.

A late hit on Ben Sinclair out of bounds on the kick return set up the Bulldogs with 1st and 10 just past midfield at the Grand Haven 48-yard line. On the next play, Brian Cappiello ran 45 yards down to the Grand Haven 3-yard line and then Meeekhof was able to capitalize with a 3-yard TD run with 6:35 left in the half. After the two point conversion the Bulldogs led 22-12.

On the next drive, a 39-yard run from Thelen made it 1st and goal for the Buccaneers, but Grand Haven couldn’t capitalize as they ended up missing a 29-yard field goal.

Grand Haven was about to get the ball back late in the 2nd quarter as Grandville punted on their next drive, but Alje Buiter forced a fumble near midfield and the Bulldogs pounced on it at the 50. Ryan Koorndyk then hit Brian Cappiello down the middle for a 39-yard TD pass giving Grandville a 30-12 lead with 28 seconds left in the half, which held until the break.

Grandville started the 2nd half by recovering a surprise onside kick at the Grand Haven 49-yard line. On the next play, Nolan Meekhof’s 49-yard run gave Grandville a 38-12 lead with 11:45 left in the 3rd quarter.

Grand Haven used Thelen’s legs to drive inside the 20, but then QB Levi Overway was blindsided by Grandville’s Eppe Saarenheimo, which caused his pass to be intercepted by Zak Koster. Two plays later, QB Ryan Koorndyk fumbled and Grand Haven recovered the ball on the 17-yard line. The Bucs capitalized a few plays later with a 13-yard TD run by Aaron Cummings with 2:55 left in the 3rd quarter.
