Breakdown: Tyree Jackson just keeps getting better

By: Sam Russell August 8, 2014

Tyree Jackson started on the varsity as a small, 5'9" playmaking freshman and over the years this young man has blossomed into a legitimate Division I QB. Now standing 6'4", Jackson has developed into one of the state's best and will get another chance to lead Mona Shores to the playoffs as a senior in 2014.

Jackson finds his name all over the school record books as he owns just about every Sailor passing record and he also led Mona Shores to the playoffs for the 1st time in school history as a junior. The Sailors finished 2013 with a record of 7-3 and Jackson put up huge numbers along the way (2,539 yards passing, 31 TD).

The senior QB will have to find a new favorite target this season as top wideout Asantay Brown (64 rec, 1,281 yds, 12 TD in 2013) is now down in Kalamazoo at Western Michigan, but I figure Jackson will be just fine.

A great athlete, with a big time arm, Jackson has an extremely high ceiling and is, without a doubt, a Player of the Year/All-State candidate for the 2014 season. The kid continues to get better and better each season, which makes me believe we haven't seen his best yet. A few weeks back, he announced he will be heading to Buffalo in 2015, but not before adding some extra padding to the 6 school records he already owns.

By the numbers:

2013 season: 2,539 yards passing, 31 TD

Career: 5,713 yards passing, 61 TD

Threw a school record 5 touchdowns vs Spring Lake in 2013

2012 season: 2,066 yards passing, 18 TD
