2014 Season Preview: A look at the South Christian Offense
By: WM Football Network Staff August 16, 2014

After breaking down the defense a few days ago, it's time to focus on the high-scoring South Christian offense. This is a group with the potential to do some very special things this season. The Sailors will have an experienced group on offense in 2014 and that experience starts at the quarterback position.

In 2014, most eyes will be on well known QB Jon Wassink. He is one of the best signal callers in the entire state and has spent the last two seasons putting up impressive numbers leading his team to the State Finals. Last season, he put up 47 total touchdowns and over 3,900 total yards leading South Christian to a 12-2 record.

Wassink has been great, but he is always giving credit to his teammates and what a group he has. Let's start with the wide receivers. Sam Heyboer (6'5") and Eric VanVoorst (6'3") are huge targets in the passing game (literally). In 2013, they combined for over 1,900 yards receiving and 19 touchdowns.

Running back Geff Plasman kept opposing squads honest by picking up over 1,100 yards on the ground. He is no stranger to the endzone either as he found pay-dirt 15 times last season.

Casey Elzinga will be starting his 3rd season at center and he will anchor a tough offensive line. With experience at several key positions, lookout for South Christian right off the bat in week 1.

With expectations high, it's nice to have hard working leaders like Wassink and Elzinga making sure this team doesn't settle for anything less than their best. Oh yeah, and they have a coach running this team by the name of Mark Tamminga who I guarantee will make sure these boys are tough all season long.
