Jon Wassink and the Sailors of South Christian (8-2, 5-0 in OK Gold) beat Allendale (5-5, 3-2 in OK Blue) on Friday night to build their win streak to 8 games.

The defenses were strong most of the first quarter until Wassink gave South Christian a 7-0 lead after a 6-yard TD run with 1:14 left in the quarter.

The score held 7-0 into the 2nd quarter until South Christian forced a fumble and Dylan Brink jumped on it at the Allendale 40-yard line. The Sailors capitalized later on a 12-yard TD run to make it 14-0 with 5:17 left to go in the half.

On Allendale’s next possession, Sam Heyboer forced a fumble and the Sailors once again turned it into points. This time it was running back Geff Plasman with an 8-yard TD run that made the game 21-0 with 1:14 left in the half.

Allendale put together a nice drive right before the half as Tucker Kloote hit Tanner Vugteveen on a 38 yard pass to the South Christian 23, but the drive ended with Vugteveen’s 42-yard field goal attempt being blocked by Heyboer.

South Christian started the 2nd half with a 14 play, 87-yard drive that was capped by a 2-yard TD pass from Jon Wassink to Sam Heyboer to make it 28-0 with 5:09 left in the 3rd.

Jon Wassink then scooped up a Nate Couturier fumble and returned it 36 yards for a TD to make the game 35-0 with 4:54 left and that would end up being the final.

The season ends for the Allendale Falcons who graduate 21 seniors that helped lead the Falcons to 3 straight playoff appearances. The Sailors will take on Hudsonville Unity Christian next week. South Christian needed overtime to defeat Unity Christian 33-30 in week 3 of the regular season, the Sailors first win of the season.
