Marosi shows versatility vs East Grand Rapids

I had the opportunity to see Nick Marosi showcase his skills on Thursday night vs East Grand Rapids and he didn't disappoint. The senior all-purpose athlete made an impact as a running back, receiver, and return man in a 17-14 heartbreaking loss to East Grand Rapids.

The numbers: 20 rushes for 98 yards, 3 receptions for 123 yards and a 64-yard TD, 86 return yards (including a 66-yard kickoff return). 307 all-purpose yards.

Marosi is a strong runner and I am not kidding when I say that. He knows how to get downhill, which made it tough for the EGR defense to bring him down. Marosi really shined in the 3rd quarter where he had 45 rushing yards on the 1st drive after halftime, which set up a TD by Dominic Forbes. Then, late in the 3rd quarter he had a 64-yard touchdown catch to tie the game up 14-14.

Overall, I loved Catholic Central's toughness. Nothing seemed to go their way in the 1st half, but this group showed tremendous poise in the 2nd half. Their defense really turned up the heat in the 2nd half, keeping East Grand Rapids out of the endzone. Brendan Boman and Grant Tennihill seemed to be everywhere making plays.

It was a fun game to watch as it was exciting all the way to the finish. Up next for Catholic Central is a matchup with Merrillville Andrean from Indiana on Saturday, September 6 at 3:30 pm.
