Breakdown: Wassink has what you're looking for in a QB

By: WM Football Network Staff August 5, 2014

South Christian's Jon Wassink has put up big numbers over the past 2 seasons and has showcased what it takes to be an elite quarterback. As one of the top signal callers in the state, Wassink has the all the physical tools scouts look for in a QB, but the one thing we love about him -- The kid knows what it takes to win.

Wassink led South Christian to state finals appearances in 2012 and 2013. Along the way, he picked up All-State honors, the GR Press Offensive Player of the Year Award and was a member of the Dream Team. With Wassink under center, the Sailors scored at least 35 points 7 times in 2013 on their way to a 12-2 record.

The Sailors will have an opportunity to prove themselves as one of the top teams in the area right out of the gate. South Christian has two huge games against Grand Rapids Christian and Caledonia to start the year. Lookout for Wassink and this high powered offense as they look to avenge last season's week 1 loss to Grand Rapids Christian.

The 2015 prospect has committed to Western Michigan, but first he will be leading an extremely talented offense in the fall of 2014. Expect another big season as he throws to targets Eric VanVoorst (2013 All-State) and Sam Heyboer.

The numbers (2013):

2,781 yards passing, 24 touchdowns, 66% completion

1,074 yards rushing, 22 touchdowns
