By: WM Football Network Staff August 21, 2014

West Catholic has some players to replace from their dynamic 2013 State Championship team. Check this list out of great players from last season who have graduated:

  • Andy Corey (All-Conference, Dream Team) - 963 yards rushing 15 touchdowns, 349 receiving yards
  • Drake Wooten - 41 rec, 835 yards 8 touchdowns
  • Brad Burns - 25 rec, 501 yards 2 touchdowns
  • David Bancuk - 33 rec, 417 yards 4 touchdowns
  • Mitch Stanitzek (All-Conference, Dream-Team) - 20 rec, 301 yards 7 touchdowns
  • Casey Norder (All-Conference), Joey Corey (Dream Team), Max Boorsma (Dream Team)
  • Boorsma had a school record 166 tackles last season, 448 in his career

It's not hard to see the Falcons have some holes to fill in 2014, but there is some good news. This roster has some serious talent and I see a new group of impact seniors ready to leave their mark in Falcons' history.

Everything starts with dual-threat QB Travis Russell, one of the best in West Michigan. Russell put up solid numbers last season (32 total TD) as he lead the Falcons to a 2013 Division 5 State Championship. He's entering his 3rd season as a starter and he already has played in 2 State Finals. An experienced gun-slinger, Russell is making sure this team doesn't settle for anything less than their best heading into his final year as a high school QB.

Russell is great and he also has a few weapons around him worth mentioning. Lasavian Majewski will be the feature back and is coming off 993 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2013. Bryce Witham (6'4", 240 lbs) will be a huge target at tight end and is set to have a huge season as a senior. He's been a beast on the defensive side of the ball for the last couple seasons and I expect his offensive numbers to explode this season.

Charlie O'Connor is definitely a name to keep a track of. Coach Rohn will use O'Connor in an all-purpose type role in 2014. Last season he got his hands on the football in several different ways on offense and even returned some kicks.

Coach Rohn and the Falcons have a big test week 1 at Muskegon Oakridge, who beat West Catholic 31-25 to open 2013. The schedule starts away, home, away, home before the Falcons kickoff conference play in the OK Blue.

West Catholic has been one of the hottest programs down the stretch over the past four seasons and we can expect Coach Rohn to have the Falcons playing their best football at the right time once again.
