West
Catholic (9-0, 5-0 in OK Blue) has finished the regular season
undefeated after beating Coopersville (3-6, 2-3 in OK Blue) by a score
of 45-8.
West
Catholic jumped out to a 14-0 lead after the 1st quarter and led 31-0
at halftime. It was the 4th time this season in which West Catholic
held their opponent to less than 10 points and the 5th time the Falcons
have scored 40+ points in a game.
Travis
Russell had 5 total touchdowns and increased his season total to 32.
The senior quarterback was 14/25 for 200 yards and threw 4 touchdowns.
He added 131 yards rushing, including a 9-yard TD run in the 1st
quarter.
For
the second straight week, Bryce Witham was Russell's main target. This
week, Witham caught 7 passes for 127 yards and 3 touchdowns. Witham's
TD catches spanned the first three quarters and covered 4, 40, and
34-yards. Sam Neville had 2 receptions for 28 yards and a TD.
Matt
Zane added a rushing TD for the Falcons who will head into the playoffs
riding an 18-game win streak.
The
defense was dominant yet again and forced four more turnovers to bring
the season total to 24. Brett Wildman, Ben Sweedyk, and Jason McDonough
each had interceptions on the night, while Witham recovered a fumble to
go along with his 6 tackles (2 TFL).
Drew
Hernandez led the way with 8 tackles (2 TFL) as West Catholic shut out
Coopersville for the first three quarters. The defense held
Coopersville to 82 yards rushing and the Broncos averaged just 3.3
yards per carry.
Notes:
For
the second straight week, Bryce Witham caught 3 touchdown passes. His 2
tackles for loss increases his total to 18 for the season.
The
Falcons' defense has 14 interceptions on the season, 5 those have been
by Ben Sweedyk.
Travis
Russell registered his third 5 TD game on the season. He reached that
mark vs Sparta and Comstock Park this season.

Hoving knocked through a 27-yard field goal in the 2nd quarter to make
the game 24-0.
