Key
to the Game: Time
of possession. It seemed like the East Grand Rapids defense was always
on the field and the time of possession showed just that. Caledonia
controlled the ball for over 32 of the 48 minutes.
Player
of the Game: Eddie
Kelly had 174 yards rushing, averaged 7.0 yards per carry, and had 2
rushing touchdowns.
Shined
in a losing effort: Mike
Johnston had 10.5 tackles for an East Grand Rapids defense that fought
hard all night long.
What
does it mean?
This
was a huge game and some might have said a must win. Caledonia improves
to 5-2 with Lowell and Grand Rapids Christian remaining on the
schedule. This was a huge win as the Scots now only need one more win
to qualify for the playoffs.
Last
season the Pioneers missed the playoffs at 5-4 and they need to win
their next two games to avoid possibly the same fate. Grand Rapids
Christian next week and Jenison the following week will be trying to
keep East Grand Rapids out of the playoffs.
